Teva Pharmaceutical Industries, Ltd. and sanofi-aventis today announced that the application for up to one month room temperature storage of COPAXONE(R) (glatiramer acetate injection) pre-lfilled syringe has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and in Europe under the Mutual Recognition Procedure (MRP).

FDA Approves Norditropin for Treatment of Short Stature Associated with a Rare Genetic Disorder

Novo Nordisk today announced that Norditropin(R) (somatropin[rDNA origin] injection)received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for the treatment of short stature in children with Noonan syndrome. Noonan syndrome is defined as an autosomal dominant genetic syndrome commonly characterized by short stature, congenital heart defects, and unique facial features.

Using new technologies for marketing to consumers

Using new technologies like the Internet for marketing purposes is a challenge for the pharmaceutical industry. It is estimated that the percent of the pharmaceutical marketing budget spent in the ‘e’ space has remained at or below three to five percent since the dawn of the commercial Internet. According to data from Advertising Age, which looks at both measured and unmeasured ad spending, the top 13 pharmaceutical company media spenders in 2005 allocated only 1.2 percent of their budgets on measured Internet advertising.

New Drug Application Submitted for Investigational Antibiotic Doripenem

Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Research & Development, L.L.C., (J&JPRD) announced that it has submitted a New Drug Application (NDA) to the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for doripenem, an investigational carbapenem antibiotic for the treatment of nosocomial pneumonia, a pneumonia that is acquired in a hospital or other healthcare setting.
